The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) was founded in 1853 ‘to promote the Art and Science of Photography’, a mission it continues to this day in the United Kingdom and through its considerable overseas membership. Members are able to gain credit and acknowledgement for their work through a system of highly-recognized distinctions. The RPS is the oldest photographic club in the world, and I'm a proud member.
FotoTV is a German online photography magazine, which does not contain written articles but, instead, is organized like a video library. Subscribers can select from various subject that include basics, history, digital, darkroom, do-it-yourself instructions, art and interesting interviews with some of the big names in photography. I liked the idea so much, I recorded my own videos with them and contributed them to their library. The subscription price is similar to many printed photo magazines.
ArtLight Studios is a professional photo studio, located in Germany between Cologne and Duesseldorf and catering to photographers of all experience levels. I have recently chosen to do almost all my studio work there, because the prices are reasonable, the equipment is vast and modern, and the service is absolutely great. If you live close and have a need for a studio, try it out. You might even benefit from taking a workshop there.
The Analog Photography Users Group (APUG) is a very large international community of like-minded individuals, who are all devoted to traditional photographic processes. This is an extremely active group of people, and their forums contain a highly-detailed archive of traditional and historic photographic processes. I make frequent internet visits to their member galleries, in order to see what people are working on and to get additional inspiration for my own work. In my opinion, it is well worth a visit and a membership!
The Analoge Photo Gruppe (aphog) is a German photography forum that was founded, and is currently run, by six photographers who wanted to share their love for traditional analog photography. Membership is completly free, and registered members have full access to specialized discussion groups, galleries and libraries. If you speak both, analog and German, this group is for you! |
